Our Story and Mission

Founded in 2023 in Kenya, the Network for Women in Childcare is a pioneering initiative dedicated to empowering female childcare providers across Kenya. Inspired by the challenges highlighted in the 2021-2023 Status of Female Childcare Workers in Kenya Report, we aim to address issues such as isolation, limited resources, and societal stereotypes.

Our mission is to build a supportive community that champions the rights and professional growth of women in childcare. With 7,000 members in Kenya and plans to expand to Malawi, Ghana, and Ethiopia by 2024, we are committed to creating a continent-wide movement that transforms the childcare sector and uplifts the women who drive it.

Our Vision for the Future

We envision a future where every female childcare worker in Kenya is celebrated and supported for their crucial role in early childhood development. Our goal is to create a vibrant network that empowers women through collaboration, resource-sharing, and advocacy.

By 2030, we aim to expand our reach to 100,000 members, fostering a community that not only transforms childcare but also champions the economic empowerment of women. Together, we are building a brighter future for childcare providers and the children they nurture.

Francisca coordinates our programs and shares our mission and vision with other women-she acts as the link between us and women involved in childcare.

Project Consultant

Vanessa leads strategic initiatives that empower women working in the childcare sector through capacity-building, advocacy, and resource mobilization.
