Our Mission

Women childcare workers in Kenya

Our Vision

A future where every female childcare worker in Kenya is empowered, supported, and celebrated for their invaluable contributions to the well-being and development of children under 8.

Our Mission

We are building a vibrant, inclusive community that champions the rights, professional growth, and economic empowerment of female childcare providers. Through collaboration, resource-sharing, and advocacy, we aim to strengthen the childcare sector and uplift the women who drive it.

Our Core Values

Nurse in childcare

At the Women in Childcare Forum, we prioritize connection and collaboration, utilizing both digital and in-person platforms to empower childcare providers to share their experiences and best practices. Our national and regional forums serve as a powerful voice for advocating workers’ rights.

We are dedicated to economic empowerment by offering access to financial resources through our Collaborative SACCO, fostering business development opportunities, and partnering with civil society organizations and government bodies to uplift childcare micro-entrepreneurs.

Our professional development initiatives include comprehensive training programs and certifications designed to enhance skills and elevate the professional status of childcare providers, ultimately improving service quality.

Through our Collaborative Action for Childcare and county-based networks, we advocate for essential regulatory reforms that support home-based childcare workers, daycare owners, and domestic workers, promoting gender equality across the sector.

We are committed to preventing sexual and gender-based violence by implementing awareness campaigns and support systems that create a safe environment for women in childcare. Additionally, we collaborate with organizations to provide vital sexual and reproductive health resources and psychosocial support for young mothers, particularly those facing challenges in childcare.

Our learning networks, both virtual and in-person, foster a strong community where members can share innovative solutions and best practices, reinforcing our commitment to support and uplift one another.
